പ്രാരംഭ പ്രാര്‍ത്ഥന

നിത്യനായ ദൈവമേ,ഞങ്ങള്‍ അങ്ങയെ ആരാധിക്കുന്നു.പാപികളായ മനുഷ്യര്‍ക്കുവേണ്ടി ജീവന്‍ ബലികഴിക്കുവാന്‍ തിരുമാനസ്സായ കര്‍ത്താവേ ഞങ്ങള്‍ അങ്ങേയ്ക്ക് നന്ദി പറയുന്നു.

അങ്ങു ഞങ്ങളെ സ്നേഹിച്ചു:അവസാനം വരെ സ്നേഹിച്ചു.സ്നേഹിതനുവേണ്ടി ജീവന്‍ ബലികഴിക്കുന്നതിനേക്കാള്‍ വലിയ സ്നേഹമില്ലെന്ന് അങ്ങ് അരുളിചെയ്തിട്ടുണ്ടല്ലോ.പീലാത്തോസിന്റെ ഭവനം
മുതല്‍ ഗാഗുല്‍ത്താവരെ കുരിശും വഹിച്ചുകൊണ്ടുള്ള അവസാനയാത്ര അങ്ങേ സ്നേഹത്തിന്റെ ഏറ്റം മഹത്തായ പ്രകടനമായിരുന്നു.കണ്ണുനീരിന്റെയും രക്തത്തിന്റെയും ആ വഴിയില്‍കൂടി ;വ്യാകുലയായ മാതാവിന്റെ പിന്നാലെ ഒരു തീര്‍ത്ഥയാത്രയായി ഞങ്ങളും അങ്ങയെ അനുഗമിക്കുന്നു.സ്വര്‍ഗ്ഗത്തിലേയ്ക്കുള്ള വഴി
ഞെരുക്കമുള്ളതും,വാതില്‍ ഇടുങ്ങിയതുമാണെന്ന് ഞങ്ങളെ അറിയിച്ച കര്‍ത്താവേ,ജീവിതത്തിന്റെ ഓരോ ദിവസവും ഞങ്ങള്‍ക്കുണ്ടാകുന്ന വേദനകളും കുരിശുകളും സന്തോഷത്തോടെ സഹിച്ചു കൊണ്ട് ആ ഇടുങ്ങിയ വഴിയില്‍കൂടി സഞ്ചിരിയ്ക്കുവാന്‍ ഞങ്ങളെ സഹായിക്കണമേ.

എന്തുകൊണ്ടെന്നാല്‍ വിശുദ്ധ കുരിശിനാല്‍ അങ്ങു ലോകത്തെ രക്ഷിച്ചു.

മനുഷ്യകുലത്തിന്റെ പാപപരിഹാരത്തിനുള്ള ബലി ആരംഭിച്ചുകഴിഞ്ഞു….ഈശോ പീലാത്തോസിന്റെ
മുമ്പില്‍ നില്‍ക്കുന്നു….അവിടുത്തെ ഒന്നു നോക്കുക…ചമ്മട്ടിയടിയേറ്റ ശരീരം …രക്തത്തില്‍ ഒട്ടിപ്പിടിച്ച വസ്ത്രങ്ങള്‍
തലയില്‍ മുള്‍മുടി…ഉറക്കമൊഴിഞ്ഞ കണ്ണുകള്‍…ക്ഷീണത്താല്‍ വിറയ്ക്കുന്ന കൈകാലുകള്‍ ദാഹിച്ചു വരണ്ട നാവ്…ഉണങ്ങിയ ചുണ്ടുകള്‍

പീലാത്തോസ് വിധിവാചകം ഉച്ചരിക്കുന്നു…കുറ്റമില്ലാത്തവന്‍ കുറ്റക്കാരനായി വിധിക്കപ്പെട്ടു…എങ്കിലും,അവിടുന്ന് എല്ലാം നിശബ്ധനായി സഹിക്കുന്നു.

എന്‍റെ ദൈവമായ കര്‍ത്താവേ അങ്ങു കുറ്റമറ്റവനായിരുന്നിട്ടും കുരിശുമരണത്തിനു വിധിക്കപ്പെട്ടുവല്ലോ.എന്നെ മറ്റുള്ളവര്‍ തെറ്റിദ്ധരിക്കുമ്പോഴും, നിര്‍ദ്ദയമായി വിമര്‍ശിക്കുമ്പോഴും കുറ്റക്കാരനായി വിധിക്കുമ്പോഴും അതെല്ലാം അങ്ങയെപ്പോലെ സമചിത്തനായി സഹിക്കുവാന്‍ എന്നെയനുഗ്രഹിക്കണമേ.അവരുടെ ഉദ്ദേശത്തെപ്പറ്റി ചിന്തിക്കാതെ അവര്‍ക്കുവേണ്ടി ആല്‍മാര്‍ത്ഥമായി

ഭാരമേറിയ കുരിശും ചുമന്നുകൊണ്ട് അവിടുന്നു മുന്നോട്ടു നീങ്ങുന്നു.ഈശോയുടെ ചുറ്റും നോക്കുക.
സ്നേഹിതന്മാര്‍ ആരുമില്ല.. യൂദാസ് അവിടുത്തെ ഒറ്റിക്കൊടുത്തു…പത്രോസ് അവിടുത്തെ പരിത്യജിച്ചു …മറ്റു
ശിഷ്യന്മാര്‍ ഓടിയൊളിച്ചു.അവിടുത്തെ അത്ഭുതപ്രവര്‍ത്തികള്‍ കണ്ടവരും അവയുടെ ഫലമനുഭവിച്ചവരും

ചുമന്നുകൊണ്ട് ഞാന്‍ അങ്ങേ രക്തമണിഞ്ഞ കാല്പാടുകള്‍ പിന്തുടരുന്നു.വലയുന്നവരെയും ഭാരം ചുമക്കുന്നവരെയും ആശ്വസിപ്പിക്കുന്ന കര്‍ത്താവേ എന്‍റെ ക്ലേശങ്ങളെല്ലാം പരാതികൂടാതെ സഹിക്കുവാന്‍ എന്നെ സഹായിക്കണമേ. ൧. സ്വര്‍ഗ്ഗ. ൧.നന്മ.

കല്ലുകള്‍ നിറഞ്ഞ വഴി….ഭാരമുള്ള കുരിശ്….ക്ഷീണിച്ച ശരീരം…വിറയ്ക്കുന്ന കാലുകള്‍…അവിടുന്നു മുഖം
കുത്തി നിലത്തു വീഴുന്നു….മുട്ടുകള്‍ പൊട്ടി രക്തമൊലിക്കുന്നു…യൂദന്മാര്‍ അവിടുത്തെ പരിഹസിക്കുന്നു…പട്ടാളക്കാര്‍ അടിക്കുന്നു.ജനകൂട്ടം ആര്‍പ്പുവിളിക്കുന്നു…..അവിടുന്നു മിണ്ടുന്നില്ല…..

‘ഞാന്‍ സഞ്ചരിയ്ക്കുന്ന വഴികളില്‍ അവര്‍ എനിക്കു കെണികള്‍ വെച്ചു.ഞാന്‍ വലത്തേയ്ക്ക് തിരിഞ്ഞു നോക്കി എന്നെ അറിയുന്നവര്‍ ആരുമില്ല.ഓടിയൊളിക്കുവാന്‍ ഇടമില്ല.എന്നെ രക്ഷിക്കുവാന്‍ ആളുമില്ല.’

അവിടുന്നു നമ്മുടെ ഭാരം ചുമക്കുന്നു.നമുക്കുവേണ്ടി അവിടുന്നു സഹിച്ചു.

കര്‍ത്താവേ,ഞാന്‍ വഹിക്കുന്ന കുരിശിനും ഭാരമുണ്ട്.പലപ്പോഴും കുരിശോടുകൂടെ ഞാനും നിലത്തു വീണുപോകുന്നു.മറ്റുള്ളവര്‍ അതുകണ്ടു പരിഹസിക്കുകയും,എന്‍റെ വേദന വര്‍ദ്ദിപ്പിക്കുകയും ചെയ്യാറുണ്ട്.കര്‍ത്താവേ എനിക്കു വീഴച്ചകള്‍ ഉണ്ടാകുമ്പോള്‍ എന്നെത്തന്നെ നീയന്ത്രിക്കുവാന്‍ എന്നെ പഠിപ്പി ക്കണമേ.കുരിശു വഹിക്കുവാന്‍ ശക്തിയില്ലാതെ ഞാന്‍ തളരുമ്പോള്‍ എന്നെ സഹായിക്കണമേ .

കുരുശുയാത്ര മുന്നോട്ടു നീങ്ങുന്നു.ഇടയ്ക്ക് സങ്കടകരമായ ഒരു കൂടികാഴ്ച …അവിടുത്തെ മാതാവു
ഓടിയെത്തുന്നു…അവര്‍ പരസ്പരം നോക്കി….കവിഞ്ഞൊഴുകുന്ന നാല് കണ്ണുകള്‍….വിങ്ങിപ്പൊട്ടുന്ന രണ്ടു ഹൃദയങ്ങള്‍….അമ്മയും മകനും സംസാരിക്കുന്നില്ല….മകന്‍റെ വേദന അമ്മയുടെ ഹൃദയം തകര്‍ക്കുന്നു….അമ്മയുടെ വേദന മകന്‍റെ ദു:ഖം വര്‍ദ്ധിപ്പിക്കുന്നു..

നാല്പതാം ദിവസം ഉണ്ണിയെ ദേവാലയത്തില്‍ കാഴ്ച വെച്ച സംഭവം മാതാവിന്‍റെ ഓര്‍മ്മയില്‍ വന്നു.’നിന്‍റെ
ഹൃദയത്തില്‍ ഒരു വാള്‍ കടക്കും’എന്നു പരിശുദ്ധനായ ശിമയോന്‍ അന്ന് പ്രവചിച്ചു.

‘കണ്ണുനീരോടെ വിതയ്ക്കുന്നവന്‍ സന്തോഷത്തോടെ കൊയ്യുന്നു’ഈ ലോകത്തിലെ നിസ്സാരസങ്കടങ്ങള്‍ നമുക്കു
നിത്യഭാഗ്യം പ്രദാനം ചെയ്യുന്നു.

ഈശോ മിശിഹായേ….

ഈശോ വളരെയധികം തളര്‍ന്നു കഴിഞ്ഞു…ഇനി കുരിശോടുകൂടെ മുന്നോട്ടു നീങ്ങുവാന്‍ ശക്തനല്ല…അവിടുന്നു വഴിയില്‍ വെച്ചു തന്നെ മരിച്ചുപോയേക്കുമെന്ന് യൂദന്മാര്‍ ഭയന്നു….അപ്പോള്‍ ശിമയോന്‍
എന്നൊരാള്‍ വയലില്‍ നിന്നു വരുന്നത് അവര്‍ കണ്ടു.കെവുറീന്‍കാരനായ ആ മനുഷ്യന്‍
അലക്സാണ്ടറിന്റെയും റോപ്പോസിന്റെയുംപിതാവായിരുന്നു…അവിടുത്തെ കുരിശുചുമക്കാന്‍ അവര്‍ അയാളെ നിര്‍ബന്ധിച്ചു-അവര്‍ക്ക് ഈശോയോട് സഹതാപം തോന്നീട്ടല്ല,ജീവനോടെ അവിടുത്തെ കുരിശില്‍
തറയ്ക്കണമെന്ന് അവര്‍ തീരുമാനിച്ചിരുന്നു.

കരുണാനിധിയായ കര്‍ത്താവേ,ഈ സ്ഥിതിയില്‍ ഞാന്‍ അങ്ങയെ കണ്ടിരുന്നുവെങ്കില്‍ എന്നെത്തന്നെ വിസ്മരിച്ചു ഞാന്‍ അങ്ങയെ സഹായിക്കുമായിരുന്നു.എന്നാല്‍ ‘എന്‍റെ ഈ ചെറിയ സഹോദരന്മാരില്‍ ആര്‍ക്കെങ്കിലും നിങ്ങള്‍ സഹായം ചെയ്തപ്പോഴെല്ലാം എനിക്കുതന്നെയാണ് ചെയ്തത് എന്ന് അങ്ങ് അരുളിചെയ്തിട്ടുണ്ടല്ലോ.’അതിനാല്‍ ചുറ്റുമുള്ളവരില്‍ അങ്ങയെ കണ്ടുകൊണ്ട്‌ കഴിവുള്ള വിധത്തിലെല്ലാം അവരെ സഹായിക്കുവാന്‍ എന്നെ അനുഗ്രഹിക്കണമേ.അപ്പോള്‍ ഞാനും ശിമയോനെപ്പോലെ അനുഗ്രഹീതനാകും,

എന്നോടു സഹതാപിക്കുന്നവരുണ്ടോ എന്ന് ഞാന്‍ അന്വേഷിച്ചു നോക്കി.ആരെയും കണ്ടില്ല.എന്നെയാശ്വസിപ്പിക്കാന്‍ ആരുമില്ല.പ്രവാചകന്‍ വഴി അങ്ങ് അരുളിച്ചെയ്ത ഈ വാക്കുകള്‍ എന്‍റെ
ചെവികളില്‍ മുഴങ്ങിക്കൊണ്ടിരിയ്ക്കുന്നു.സ്നേഹം നിറഞ്ഞ കര്‍ത്താവേ,വേറോനിക്കായെപ്പോലെ അങ്ങയോടു

ഈശോ ബലഹീനനായി വീണ്ടും നിലത്തു വീഴുന്നു….മുറിവുകളില്‍ നിന്നു രക്തമൊഴുകുന്നു…ശരീരമാകെ വേദനിക്കുന്നു.’ഞാന്‍ പൂഴിയില്‍ വീണുപോയി :എന്‍റെ ആല്‍മാവു ദു:ഖിച്ചു തളര്‍ന്നു’ ചുറ്റുമുള്ളവര്‍ പരിഹസിക്കുന്നു….അവിടുന്ന് അതൊന്നും ഗണ്യമാക്കുന്നില്ല….’എന്‍റെ പിതാവ് എനിക്കുതന്ന പാനപാത്രം ഞാന്‍ കുടിക്കേണ്ട്തല്ലയോ?പിതാവിന്‍റെ ഇഷ്ടം നിറവേറ്റാനല്ലാതെ അവിടുന്നു മറ്റൊന്നും ആഗ്രഹിക്കുന്നില്ല.

ഓര്‍ശ്ലത്തിന്‍റെ തെരുവുകള്‍ ശബ്ദായമാനമായി …പതിവില്ലാത്ത ബഹളം കേട്ട് സ്ത്രീജനങ്ങള്‍ വഴിയിലേയ്ക്കു വരുന്നു.അവര്‍ക്കു സുപരിചിതനായ ഈശോ കൊലക്കളത്തിലേയ്ക്ക് നയിക്കപ്പെടുന്നു.അവിടത്തെ പേരില്‍ അവര്‍ക്ക് അനുകമ്പ തോന്നി….ഓശാന ഞായറാഴ്ചത്തെ ഘോഷയാത്ര അവരുടെ ഓര്‍മ്മയില്‍ വന്നു.സൈത്തിന്‍ കൊമ്പുകളും ജയ് വിളികളും ….അവര്‍ കണ്ണുനീര്‍വാര്‍ത്തു കരഞ്ഞു…
അവരുടെ സഹതാപപ്രകടനം അവിടുത്തെ ആശ്വസിപ്പിച്ചു.അവിടുന്ന് അവരോടു പറയുന്നു.’നിങ്ങളെയും നിങ്ങളുടെ കുഞ്ഞുങ്ങളെയും ഓര്‍ത്തു കരയുവിന്‍.’

മുന്നോട്ടു നീങ്ങുവാന്‍ അവിടുത്തേയ്ക്ക് ഇനി ശക്തിയില്ല.രക്തമെല്ലാം തീരാറായി….തല കറങ്ങുന്നു….ശരീരം
വിറയ്ക്കുന്നു…അവിടുന്ന് അതാ നിലംപതിക്കുന്നു….സ്വയം എഴുന്നേല്‍ക്കുവാന്‍ ശക്തിയില്ല….ശത്രുക്കള്‍ അവിടുത്തെ വലിച്ചെഴുന്നേല്പ്പിക്കുന്നു….

ബലി പൂര്‍ത്തിയാകുവാന്‍ ഇനി വളരെ സമയമില്ല…..അവിടുന്നു നടക്കുവാന്‍ ശ്രമിക്കുന്നു….

ഗാഗുല്‍ത്തായില്‍ എത്തിയപ്പോള്‍ അവര്‍ അവിടുത്തേയ്ക്ക് മീറ കലര്‍ത്തിയ വീഞ്ഞുകൊടുത്തു:എന്നാല്‍
അവിടുന്ന്‌ അത് സ്വീകരിച്ചില്ല.അവിടുത്തെ വസ്ത്രങ്ങള്‍ നാലായി ഭാഗിച്ച് ഓരോരുത്തര്‍ ഓരോ ഭാഗം എടുക്കുകയും ചെയ്തു.മേലങ്കി തയ്യല്‍ കൂടാതെ നെയ്യപ്പെട്ടതായിരുന്നു.അത് ആര്‍ക്ക് ലഭിക്കണമെന്നു ചിട്ടിയിട്ടു
തീരുമാനിക്കാം എന്ന് അവര്‍ പരസ്പരം പറഞ്ഞു.

‘എന്‍റെ വസ്ത്രങ്ങള്‍ അവര്‍ ഭാഗിച്ചെടുത്തു.എന്‍റെ മേലങ്കിക്കുവേണ്ടി അവര്‍ ചിട്ടിയിട്ടു’ എന്നുള്ള തിരുവെഴുത്തു അങ്ങനെ അന്വര്‍ത്ഥമായി

രക്തത്താല്‍ ഒട്ടിപ്പിടിച്ചിരുന്ന വസ്ത്രങ്ങള്‍ ഉരിഞ്ഞെടുക്കപ്പെട്ടപ്പോള്‍ ദുസ്സഹമായ വേദനയനുഭവിച്ച മിശിഹായേ,പാപം നിറഞ്ഞ പഴയ മനുഷ്യനെ ഉരിഞ്ഞുമാറ്റി അങ്ങയെ ധരിക്കുവാനും,മറ്റൊരു ക്രിസ്തുവായി

കൈകളും കാലുകളും
പെരുകുന്നു വേദന -
യുരുകുന്നു ചേതന ;
നിലയറ്റ നീര്‍ക്കയം
“മരണം പരത്തിയോ-
രിരുളില്‍ കുടുങ്ങി ഞാന്‍:
ഭയമെന്നെയൊന്നായ് വിഴുങ്ങി.”

ഈശോയെ കുരിശില്‍ കിടത്തി കൈകളിലും കാലുകളിലും അവര്‍ ആണി തറയ്ക്കുന്നു…..ആണിപ്പഴുതുകളി ലേയ്ക്കു കൈകാലുകള്‍ വലിച്ചു നീട്ടുന്നു…..

ഉഗ്രമായ വേദന….മനുഷ്യനു സങ്കല്‍പ്പിക്കാന്‍ കഴിയാത്തവിധം ദുസ്സഹമായ പീഡകള്‍….എങ്കിലും അവിടുത്തെ
അധരങ്ങളില്‍ പരാതിയില്ല…..കണ്ണുകളില്‍ നൈരാശ്യമില്ല…..പിതാവിന്‍റെ ഇഷ്ടം നിറവേറട്ടെ എന്ന് അവിടുന്നു
പ്രാര്‍ത്ഥിക്കുന്നു.

ലോക രക്ഷകനായ കര്‍ത്താവേ,സ്നേഹത്തിന്‍റെ പുതിയ സന്ദേശവുമായി വന്ന അങ്ങയെ ലോകം കുരിശില്‍ തറച്ചു.അങ്ങേ ലോകത്തില്‍ നിന്നല്ലാത്തതിനാല്‍ ലോകം അങ്ങയെ ദ്വേഷിച്ചു.യജമാനനേക്കാള്‍ വലിയ
ദാസനില്ലെന്ന് അങ്ങ് അരുളിചെയ്തിട്ടുണ്ടല്ലോ.അങ്ങയെ പീഡിപ്പിച്ചവര്‍ ഞങ്ങളെയും പീഡിപ്പിക്കുമെന്നു ഞങ്ങളറിയുന്നു.അങ്ങയോടു കൂടെ കുരിശില്‍ തറയ്ക്കപ്പെടുവാനും,ലോകത്തിനു മരിച്ച്,അങ്ങേയ്ക്കുവേണ്ടി

കുരിശില്‍ കിടന്നു ജീവന്‍ പിരിയുന്നു
ഭുവനൈകനാഥനീശോ
സൂര്യന്‍ മറഞ്ഞിരുണ്ടു-നാടെങ്ങു-
മന്ധകാരം നിറഞ്ഞു.
“നരികള്‍ക്കുറങ്ങുവാ-
നളയുണ്ടു, പറവയ്ക്കു
കൂടുണ്ടു പാര്‍ക്കുവാന്‍
നരപുത്രനൂഴിയില്‍
തലയൊന്നു ചായ്ക്കുവാ-

രണ്ടു കള്ളന്മാരുടെ നടുവില്‍ അവിടുത്തെ അവര്‍ കുരിശില്‍ തറച്ചു…കുരിശില്‍ കിടന്നുകൊണ്ട് ശത്രുക്കള്‍ക്കു വേണ്ടി അവിടുന്ന് പ്രാര്‍ത്ഥിക്കുന്നു….നല്ല കള്ളനെ ആശ്വസിപ്പിക്കുന്നു….മാതാവും മറ്റു സ്ത്രീകളും
കരഞ്ഞുകൊണ്ട്‌ കുരിശിനു താഴെ നിന്നിരുന്നു.’ഇതാ നിന്‍റെ മകന്‍’ എന്ന് അമ്മയോടും,ഇതാ നിന്‍റെ അമ്മ എന്ന് യോഹന്നാനോടും അവിടുന്ന് അരുളിച്ചെയ്തു.മൂന്നുമണി സമയമായിരുന്നു.’എന്‍റെ പിതാവേ,അങ്ങേ കൈകളില്‍
എന്‍റെ ആല്‍മാവിനെ ഞാന്‍ സമര്‍പ്പിക്കുന്നു,എന്നരുളിച്ചെയ്ത അവിടുന്ന് മരിച്ചു.പെട്ടെന്ന് സൂര്യന്‍ ഇരുണ്ടു,ആറുമണിവരെ ഭൂമിയിലെങ്ങും അന്ധകാരമായിരുന്നു.ദേവാലയത്തിലെ തിരശീല നടുവേ കീറിപ്പോയി.
ഭൂമിയിളകി;പാറകള്‍ പിളര്‍ന്നു.പ്രേതാലയങ്ങള്‍ തുറക്കപ്പെട്ടു.

ശതാധിപന്‍ ഇതെല്ലാം കണ്ട് ദൈവത്തെ സ്തുതിച്ചുകൊണ്ട് ഈ മനുഷ്യന്‍ യഥാര്‍ത്ഥത്തില്‍ നീതിമാനായിരുന്നു,എന്ന് വിളിച്ചുപറഞ്ഞു.കണ്ടു നിന്നവര്‍ മാറത്തടിച്ചുകൊണ്ടു മടങ്ങിപ്പോയി.

‘എനിക്ക് ഒരു മാമ്മോദീസാ മുങ്ങുവാനുണ്ട് അത് പൂര്‍ത്തിയാകുന്നതുവരെ ഞാന്‍ അസ്വസ്ഥനാകുന്നു.’
കര്‍ത്താവേ,അങ്ങ് ആഗ്രഹിച്ച മാമ്മോദീസാ അങ്ങ് മുങ്ങിക്കഴിഞ്ഞു.അങ്ങേ ദഹനബലി അങ്ങ് പൂര്‍ത്തിയാക്കി.
എന്‍റെ ബലിയും ഒരിക്കല്‍ പൂര്‍ത്തിയാകും.ഞാനും ഒരു ദിവസം മരിക്കും.അന്ന് അങ്ങയെപ്പോലെ ഇപ്രകാരം
പ്രാര്‍ത്ഥിക്കുവാന്‍ എന്നെ അനുവദിക്കണമേ.എന്‍റെ പിതാവേ,ഭൂമിയില്‍ ഞാന്‍ അങ്ങയെ മഹത്വപ്പെടുത്തി;എന്നെ
ഏല്പിച്ചിരുന്ന ജോലി ഞാന്‍ പൂര്‍ത്തിയാക്കി.ആകയാല്‍ അങ്ങേപ്പക്കല്‍ എന്നെ മഹത്വപ്പെടുത്തണമേ.

അന്ന് വെള്ളിയാഴ്ചയായിരുന്നു.പിറ്റേന്ന് ശാബതമാകും.അതുകൊണ്ട് ശരീരങ്ങള്‍ രാത്രി കുരിശില്‍ കിടക്കാന്‍
പാടില്ലെന്നു യൂദന്മാര്‍ പറഞ്ഞു.എന്തെന്നാല്‍ ആ ശാബതം വലിയ ദിവസമായിരുന്നു.തന്മൂലം കുരിശില്‍

YOUTH are not USELESS… They are USED Less.

YOUTH are not HOPELESS… They are HOPED Less.

If the society puts its hope on the YOUTH and uses them properly, I am sure our days will definitely be bright and sunny again…

It is true that the communication systems become part of their lives. The sample survey that conducted among the Pune Malayali Christian youth (the survey was not conducted in large scale, it has its own limitations) provides following facts:|

1. A shift of interest from TV to internet and mobile.
2. They are least interested in the print media. When it comes to the case of Christian magazines this becomes worse. They look for the charming and thrilling matters. They prefer short and sweet.
3. The change in the morality and the new carefree culture of media are on an increase. Many seek helps through Internet when they face some sort of Faith crisis. The problem here is who guides him there or what guides him. Here, collective opinion becomes faith and the peer group becomes guiding principle.
4. Youth admit that they are living in a world full of stress and strain that is why they prefer entertainment movies
5. Most of the time they are in the virtual world of media

When the question about Mobile phone came one commented like this, “Oh mobile, I can not live with out that. It is my life partner. I get everything through my phone”. Let us analyze ourselves in our 24 hours a day how much time we spend for our mobile phone, TV and internet. We are not denying the fact that we need the modern technologies and communicative means but our point of discussion here is what is the attitude towards these facilities.
If media is the ‘gift of God’ it is out duty to use it properly. If we are not conquering the media then the media will conquer us. It is God’s command that fill and subdue the earth [1]. If media is properly used it can be of great service to humankind because it opens before vast horizon of possibilities. So, what we need is the awareness and knowledge about the media. Media education becomes important here. It is not simply as skills’ training but as an awareness and understanding of the representations of reality generated by media in a media-shaped society
It is our duty to instruct and guide our friends so that they, with the help of these same media, may further the salvation and perfection of themselves and of the entire human family [2]. As recipients we must know the ways and means of media. It will help us to be active and critical viewers rather than passive spectators who receive whatever the communication media offer. L.I Brezhner says, “The media can serve the purpose of peace and confidence or they can spread all over the world the poison of discard between countries and people” [3]. Youth and the kids have to be especially cared and have to be prepared to deal with the media in moderation and self-control. The media is for the humans not the other way.
Why internet and the mobile are most influential in the life of the youth? Why reality shows are attractive for youth? Because, these provide participatory communication, i.e. the communication here is more dialogical. This gives impetus to make our approach to the youth more dialogical. Participatory church becomes more appealing here. As the Pope Benedict XVI says let us encourage each other to bring the witness of their faith to the digital world [4].It is the responsibility of each and every one of us. Let us encourage each other, let us conquer the virtual world.

It seems Vatican is really concerned about the digital world now. A recent survey pointed out that the number of Internet users would increase drastically by 2014. Online communication methods would replace the conventional ones in the near future. Vatican also feels the pu,  Pope, Vaticanlse and is working hard to be in the flow.

Now books are going online. The war time Vatican books go online now. Vatican is on it’s way to make available all the books during the time of world war second. These books will be available on Internet for free. Altogether 8000 pages will be made available online. Books including the notes by then Pope Pious XII. It is believed that the controversial statements by the Pop against Holocaust will also be available in the collection. Books will be digitalis ed and will be uploaded to the net. Now these books are only available in the Vatican library but were not available online.

Apart from this initiative books from way back to 1964 will also be uploaded in the net as the second phase of the project. This includes the writings by Pope Paul VI. Earlier Vatican made it clear that it will not publish the books of Pope Pious XII for the next five years. But now it is going to go online.

In his recent writings Pope Benedict XVI also praised social networking sites and the digital revolution. This move to digitalis e War time Vatican books is inline with the Vatican’s Vision of communication in the digital world.

At present these valuable writings are available only to selected people. When it is made online millions can be benefited. This will help to spread the word of god in a faster way.

1. in a secularised society, the Church’s role in the areas like education and healthcare will be minimal.
2. in a secularised society, religious institutions like churches and religious persons like priests and nuns will not be respected very much.
3. in a secularised society, people do not like to speak about their religion in public. It is called Privatization of religion.
4. in a religious society, the values of science and technology are preferred to concepts like sacredness and mystery.
5. in a secularized society, religious entities tend to make their presence in the worldly matters more than in the spiritual matters.
6. in a secularized society, the religious memory of the individual is fading.

If we look at our society in Kerala through the specs of these criteria of secularized society, one can easily suggest that Kerala society, at least in the cities, are quickly getting secularized.

Nowadays it is not at all easy to run educational and healthcare institutions in Kerala as the Government here uses all their machinery to limit the Church interventions. The efforts of the Government recently to experiment with the school curriculum are best examples.

A decline in respect the nuns and priests had in the past is caused by many factors. We cannot sideline the fact that the irresponsible lifestyle by a few of them has created a general impression on the priesthood and religious life as a whole. It is a challenge in front of the priests and nuns to live in the world but without of this world.

Privatization of the religion is a phenomenon mostly noted in the cities. Almost all the people believe in God and engaged in religious practices of their own. The number of people who associate themselves with a parish is on a decrease. Though this privatization is on an increase among Christians and Hindus, in Muslim communities, publicization of their religion is on an increase.

As the science and technology began to step in to many of the unknown territories of human knowledge, the reverence to mystery is on a decrease. One must acknowledge that it is the mystery aspect that is one of the most important cornerstones of religion. Mystery and embracing the mystery with faith have been the style of Christian formation all throughout.

Unfortunately, the Church on her part has fallen in the trap set up by the secularized world. The Church in an effort not to get alienated from this world got into worldly affairs in an unprecedented way and slowly loosing its ground in the process.

I have asked many Christians who are just back from a Holy Mass which was the gospel reading of the day. Not many have given me an answer. That is a symptom of religious Alzheimer. Alzheimer patients loose their way even in doing daily activities due to the lack of memory. Christians loose their way in their daily lives due to the lack of religious memory. That is why in their workplace or in their study places, their activities are not influenced by the religious values.

In the course of explaining the criteria of a secularized society, I have pointed out many reasons of societies getting secularized quite quickly. It is our thrownness that we have to live in a secularized society. We cannot do much about it. The question is that cannot we live as a religious person even in a secularized society. I would love to have responses to that “existential” question, “cannot we live as a religious person even in a secularized society?” Or, “are all the efforts for the same just a lost battle?”

All the proceeds would go to a charity he set up in Latin America, which would offer micro-credit loans to poor people in El Salvador, Honduras, Bolivia, Peru, Argentina and Chile.

Karl was born to a poor family and he worked hard to earn his wealth. However, the new riches did not make him happy. He was touched by the plight of the poor in Africa and other places around the world.

During a recent trip to Hawaii, he discussed with his wife, the vagary of possessions they owned. Finally, they came to the decision to give up everything and move to a $1200 per month apartment in another part of Innsbruck.

Anglican priest and Telegraph religion editor George Pitcher commended Karl’s deed and added that he would get more benefit by employing his time and skill for the service of others.

Karl’s fortune is around $5.3 million is probably not a great sum or money compared to the other, more wealthier people in this world. However, the astounding fact is that Karl is giving it all away at the age 47 and is not even going to draw any salary from the charity he is setting up.

Rabeder and his wife are the people who keep the beacon of hope alight for human kind, amidst the cruelties in the world.

I read this some days back. What is your opinion of this?

When Pope John Paul II instituted the World Day of the Sick eighteen years back, his main aim was to make people reflect on the meaning of suffering. Suffering is a huge mystery. We get perplexed sometimes at the experiences of suffering of just and pious people. The advancements in neither medical science nor technology were able to answer this mystery. Only God the Father has an answer to this mystery and the answer given by the Father is His Son on the cross.

February 11^th is not a day to be celebrated with some attractive rituals. The celebration of this day must touch the conscience of each of us and make our hearts more sensitive to the concerns of the sick people. It should also help our community to form a new culture, a culture of life which will give solace to the sick people who maybe near to their death.

For Jesus, the sick were very important people. The very heart of His gospel is the message of healing. As it is said in the Acts, “he went around doing good and healing” (10:38). When he entrusted his disciples the Mission he gave them the power to heal the sick (Mk. 16:18). To the ones who suffer, he said, “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest” (Mt 11:28). As the model of the ones who has to nurse a sick, he presented the Good Samaritan. Jesus deals with the sick people he meets in two ways. He cured the sickness of some physically through external miracles. There are numerous instances of this in the gospel. And to some he moved internally to accept the pain as a salvific one as in the case of Paul. “To keep me from becoming conceited because of these surpassingly great revelations, there was given me a thorn in my flesh” (2 Cor 12:7)

The Church has to do its healing ministry in a world where secularization diminished the value of the suffering, the eschatological hope is thrown away and a culture of death and selfishness is propagated. The church however does not retreat from its mission of life an inch. The strong conviction of the Church that it has to uphold the value of life, a gift of God and the redemptive value of the suffering of Jesus leads her to stand by the suffering sick people and to go be in war against the secular forces which demand the evils like euthanasia in view of alleviating the pain of the sickness. The church works on two principles regarding the care for the sick. One, the suffering has a salvific value for the person himself and to others. Two, the church being the mystical body of Christ, as the injury of any part of the body cause the pain all over the body, each member has a responsibility to care for the sick. The innumerous hospitals, religious congregations dedicated for healthcare and health care personal promoted by the church are shining examples of this conviction of the Church.

Now I would like to speak about certain Christian responses to the experience of sickness. It is important to have an idea of the Christian response of a sick person at the pains of his sickness and also the response of a relative or caretaker at the sickbed of his dear one. If these responses are not Christian, there is always the danger of a sick person’s life becoming miserable and he being yielded to the culture of death knowingly or unknowingly.

My dear brothers and sisters who are sick, I invite you to reflect on the sufferings undertaken by our Lord and how it saved all of us. As St. Paul tells the Colossians, our suffering too has a salvific value. “Now I rejoice in what was suffered for you, and I fill up in my flesh what is still lacking in regard to Christ’s afflictions, for the sake of his body, which is the church” (Col 1:24). Listen to what Jesus Himself has to say, “Neither this man nor his parents sinned, but this happened so that the work of God might be displayed in his life.” (Jn 9:2). Dear brothers and sisters, you maybe constantly praying to the Lord to get healed but without any avail. To some he may grant the healing physically but to others the call is to be his apostles of the Cross. This is a call to elevate you just from a lying sick person to a missionary and a saint. Was not St. Alphonsa an apostle of the Cross of Christ? The pain afflicted is not always to damn you but the same pain can be the source of your salvation. In a world where the culture of death prevails, suffering is seen merely as an evil and shortcoming, you are missionaries of life, a life given by Jesus on the cross. A Certain Rev. Sister celebrated the Jubilee of her sickness and suffering some time back. She fell down on the altar 25 years back while arranging the flowers and since was suffering from intense back pain. She celebrates the suffering and thus follows the footsteps of Jesus Christ who asked us to celebrate his suffering on the Cross each day. You should realize that Jesus was glorified and his pains turned to joy not by avoiding the cross which came to his way, but rather by accepting them happily. The sorrows of a mother do not turn joy not by aborting her baby but by giving birth to him or her and going through the pains of pregnancy and delivery.

Dear near and dear ones of the sick people, the sickness is very harsh most of the time. It is your responsibility to show mercy to the sick ones which the sickness itself will not show to the sick. Now we discuss a lot about Euthanasia as a bill is proposed to the Government of Kerala to regulate so that the citizens of the state can go for it. If the near and dear ones show the needed care and concern to the sick, which sick person will long for euthanasia? I am sure that the pain from a sickness is not the greatest pain of a sick person, rather the greatest pain of the sick one is caused when the relatives neglect the concerns of the sick. The cry of a sick person does not always come from the pain he suffers; rather it is a cry towards us for our attention, care and love. The most important attitude must be to see the face of Jesus on the face of the sick. John Paul II says, “When I visit hospitals and treatment centers….I particularly like to pause beside the patients, their relatives and the health-care personnel. These places are like shrines where people participate in Christ’s paschal mystery.” The parable of the Good Samaritan must inspire us. The beautiful dress we wear or the traveling plan of ours or our position in the society should not deter us from helping a sick person. We have heroic examples in this regard like that of Mother Theresa and Fr. Damien, who nursed the lepers in the island of Molokai.
